sic alps: new videos!!!
Drag City has launched two new videos by Sic Alps for their forthcoming album Napa Asylum. Sic Alps from San Francisco is Mike Donovan, Matthew Hartman and now Noel Harmonson (who played with Comets of Fire). Their music is a great mix of psychedelic, noise and some kind of pop. I first discovered them few years ago through the Animal Disguise label (home of Mammal) who released "Pleasures & Treasures". Think about Syd Barrett, Velvet Underground but noisier and you'll almost get it.

arp

I can't stop listening to this record! Arp is Alexis Georgopoulos, who also plays in the Alps (see below in this blog). The Soft Wave is really great and mesmerizing. A mix of drone, synthesizers and cosmic music like Cluster, Harmonia and a bit of noise. You can listen to it here. It has been released by Smalltown Supersound.
Pastoral Symphony: I. Dominoes. II: Infinity.

smycken
Smycken is Rasmus Emanuel Svensson (a graphic designer and visual artist fron Sweden) and Hanna Nilsson. They create dark, electronic, psychedelic and haunting music. He also edits a great magazine PWR Paper with various contributors. Svensson's work is very original and one of the most inspiring today. It can be seen here (visual) and heard there (music).

sculpture: rotary signal emitter

Demonstration Reel from Sculpture on Vimeo.
Amazing picture disc by Sculpture, a duo from London. The music consists in collages of found sounds, beats, noises... It's a kind of audio video experience, but you have to forget about dvd. You have to film the record with a camera and enjoy the results. You can find it through Dekorder or via Mimaroglu Music Sales.

the alps

The Alps is a band from San Francisco and New York. They play psychedelic music inspired by french, italian 70's psychedelic bands and soundtracks, krautrock and english folk. The band is Jefre Cantu-Ledesma (Tarentel), Alexis Georgopoulos (ARP) and Scott Hewicker (Troll). One of their tracks reminds me a song the french singer Christophe wrote for a movie, "Sunny road to Salina". It's really good and unique!!! Their two albums are entitled "III" and "Le Voyage" on the excellent label Type.

new peaking lights & wet hair lps.

Two new releases from the awesome label Night People. The first one by Peaking Lights (one of my favorite band/duo these days) "Space Primitive" and Wet Hair/Naked on the Vague "Split LP". The records' artworks are designed by Shawn Reed (the label's boss), who also plays in Wet Hair, whose records "Dream" and "Glass Fountain" are fresh psychedelic noise music.
